On 21st February, 2019, Rwanda Energy Group (REG) received a Delegation from the Energy corporation of Bourkina Faso (Société Nationale d’Electricité du Bourkina/SONABEL) on a study visit in Rwanda aimed at sharing experience in the areas  of  energy generation, electricity pre-payment and post-payment and ICT innovation in energy, among others. 

The three member delegation from Bourkina Faso was  led by Mr. Souleymane OUEDRAOGO who is the Director for commercial and customers at SONABEL.

On behalf of the Managing Director of EUCL, the delegation was received by Armand Zingiro; the Director for distribution and operations and other senior Managers at EUCL.  

Discussions were focused on pre-payment and post-payment of electricity, efforts to curb electricity theft and other related losses together with energy penetration across the country.  

REG illustrated various efforts in reducing electricity losses, strategies to connect the whole country by 2024 as per National Strategy for Transformation, framework of selling electricity through ICT, among others.  

The Bourkina Delegation called for a continued partnership and collaboration to keep learning from each other along the transformational journey of energy sector.  

The visit sets a groundwork for further cooperation activities to be undertaken in the areas of energy solutions.
