-          The transmission line and substation help in evacuation of power from Nyabarongo 1 hydro power plant.

-          Increase the reliability of the network, especially in the District of Karongi.

13km 110kV Gishoma-Bugarama transmission line

-          The transmission line and substation help in evacuation of power from Gishoma peat to power plant.

-          Increase the reliability of the network, especially in the District of Rusizi.

93.5km 220kV Mirama - Shango Transmission line

-          This is an interconnection project that will allow the import of power from Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia in future.

-          Increase of Rwanda network reliability.

17.5km 110kV Ntendezi - Bugarama Transmission line and 110/30kV Ntendezi and 110/6.6kV Bugarama substations

-          The transmission line and substations help to evacuate the power from Gishoma Peat to power plant while linking the existing network and Gishoma Peat to Power plant and also play the role of network strengthening.

-          Connecting CIMERWA to the nation grid and reduce diesel consumption

-          Increase reliability of power, especially in District of Nyamasheke and Rusizi.

-          Loss reduction.

31.5km 110kV Rukarara - Kilinda Transmission line & 110/30kV Rukarara Substation

-          The transmission line will evacuate the power from Rukarara 1, 2, 5, 6 hydropower plants and other nearby planned power plants and will also ensure also some spinning reserve to reinforce the stability of the Rwandan network.

-          The impact will be seen in the District of Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru, Gisagara, Huye, Nyanza, Ruhango, Muhanaga and Ngororero.

Remark:

 

A lot of transmission lines and substations are under construction including, among others, 180km 220kV Rwanda – DRC interconnector, 119 km 110kV Rulindo – Gicumbi –Gabiro –Musha Transmission line, 27km 110km Kigali Ring, etc and others are under procurement process including, among others, 64km 220kV Rwanda – Burundi interconnector, 53km 220kV Mamba-Rwabusoro-Bugesera Transmission line, 74km 220kV Kibuye-Kilinda - Kigoma- Rwabusoro transmission line, 29km 110kV Gahanga – Rilima transmission line, etc.
